Practical tips for safe heating

Mandatory maintenance of appliances:

  • Gas boiler : every 3 years
  • Wood stove, oil heater, insert : every year
  • BoilerBoiler : A device used to heat and store domestic hot water (for showering, washing dishes, etc.). Regular maintenance is essential to avoid breakdowns and risks. Prefer gas : it's cheaper and less risky.

  • Kerosene heater (Zibro) → the fumes are harmful and there is a risk of increased humidity ;
  • Electric space heater → the electricity consumption required by this method costs 3 times more than gas ;
  • Improvised or poorly installed system → risk of explosion or poisoning.

Your heating isn’t working?

Inform your landlord to report the heating problem

Notify them by registered letterA letter sent with acknowledgment of receipt, which serves as proof that the recipient received the letter. This process costs around €10.
(or email) with photos and/or videos.

Specify that you are requesting a quick intervention to resolve the problem at its source (not just repainting).

Keep a written record of all exchanges.
