Heating in a home is essential. Heating is not a luxury : it’s necessary to live in a healthy and safe environment. A poorly heated home or one without heating can seriously harm your health. Cold, humidity, and mold can lead to poisoning or respiratory illnesses.

The landlord must therefore provide a compliant, safe, and functioning heating system.

And if the home doesn’t yet have a heating system ? It must at least be pre-equipped, meaning it must be ready to receive a heating installation (for example: gas supply, exhaust duct, designated location, etc.). This is a legal requirement under the Brussels Housing Code, to ensure the safety of the home, common areas, and surroundings.
